Parenting is a learning process for most people, and just like each person is unique, each situation may be unique as well. Parents always want their kids to excel wherever they are, and they are constantly looking for ways to provide the best for their kids. However, sometimes it can be challenging when there is disappointment from either side. As parents, what do we have to give to our kids?
Children are a part of the family and parents must ensure that they are growing up as a part of the family, knowing and understanding the family’s situations. Sometimes, parents may feel bad when they are unable to buy things their kids want. However, if they talk to their children like individuals and explain why they are unable to provide something, the children will be able to understand more than expected. Parents should not feel bad about not being able to give something to their children. Instead, they should give from what they have, not from what they don’t have.
In this materialistic world, people often forget the importance of spending time together. Spending time doing things together that both parents and children enjoy is a great way to connect with kids. However, it is important to ensure that the activity is not solely based on what parents like. As children grow older, it becomes important to trust them and let them make their own choices. Nevertheless, parents are parents first, and then only can they become friends. Children need guidance in life, even if they think they don’t. When it comes to giving, giving oneself is the best thing a parent can do for their child. Giving time, listening, and understanding their problems, asking how one can be of help, making them feel good for who they are, and teaching them to accept failures with grace are some ways to show love and support.
Parenting is not an easy task, but it can be fulfilling to see how children grow and become good human beings in this world. Giving oneself to one’s child can help them become great individuals. Children will appreciate this someday!
